Welcome to St. James Gift Shop, a treasury of spiritual and inspirational books and gifts. Our Shop is located in La Jolla's cultural district, under the bell tower of St. James by-the-Sea Episcopal Church, and is open seven days a week. Dating back to the 1950's, it has become a major destination for travelers as well as parishioners and friends. Its ever-changing inventory of one-of-a-kind religious folk art is a favorite for many who visit. Its large book department may have just what you are looking for.

The purpose of St. James Gift Shop is to be a non-profit outreach center, extending the mission and ministry of the church and the diocese. We reach out to artisans around the world to share their God-given talent with their handmade creations. Proceeds from sales help support the church's ministries.

NEW THIS MONTH:

Back from a buying trip to Guadalajara, Tlaquepaque and Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, the Gift Shop is filled with new and exciting treasures. From wonderful milagro wall crosses, wood carved angels, beautiful sterling silver jewelry from Taxco to new items arriving daily.

The Gift Shop features Peruvian retablos from Claudio Jimenez, Oaxacan wood carvings from Armando and Moises Jimenez, Hand crafted jewelry from Alfredo Franco Vara, Mario Romero, Federico, Ann Craig, Joan Slifka, Joyce Morgan and Jane Coursin to name a few. We have a great collection of icons from Greece and Russia, Ethiopian wall crosses, hand carved angels from the Czech Republic and Poland and much, much more.

The dates have been set for The Art of Latin America ~~ August 7,8, and 9, 2009. Lots of new surprises are planned, so stay tuned.

With the exception of the manager, Karen Fast, and assistant manager , Jennifer Atkinson, all who work in the shop are volunteers. Their enthusiasm and commitment make St. James a fun place to visit!
